Description

This illustrated philatelic envelope commemorates the opening of the Grenoble Winter Olympic Games in 1968. The visible side features a polychrome illustration depicting a bobsleigh scene in full descent on a snowy track, surrounded by fir trees, with four athletes in a red bobsleigh. The visual is framed by the mention "OUVERTURE DES JEUX" (OPENING OF THE GAMES) followed by the number 626, as well as the title "BOBSLEIGH" in the bottom left.

Two circular cancellation stamps are clearly visible, bearing the inscription "Xe Jeux Olympiques d’Hiver Inauguration 6 FEV. 68 38e GRENOBLE", accompanied by a stylized Olympic flame motif. A postage stamp is also affixed to the right side; its precise details are not fully visible in the photo but it is an integral part of this first-day cover.

A red "Premier Jour" (First Day) stamp is printed in the bottom left, attesting to the philatelic nature of the item. The envelope's surface shows it protected by plastic, which helps preserve its original condition. In the bottom right, a handwritten label indicates "1of".

The ensemble stands out for its vibrant colors and graphic design typical of the late 1960s, with an illustrative style evoking the Olympic aesthetic of the era. The general condition of the visible side appears clean, with no major apparent defects through the plastic film.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The visible side appears well-preserved under plastic protection. No tears, major creases, or obvious stains are observable on the illustrated part. The cancellations remain clear and legible.
