Description

This philatelic cover features a carefully preserved front, visible under plastic protection. It is franked with a red Marianne Liberté series stamp with a face value of 0.80 franc, typical of the French Post Office. The commemorative postmark indicates its issue on the 30th anniversary of the Société Philatélique de Clichy, dated October 19 and 20, 1974, making it a first-day-of-issue postal document for this local event.

The rectangular postmark in the upper right corner reads: "Société Philatélique. 30ᵉ anniversaire. CLICHY. 19-20 Octobre 1974," accompanied by graphic elements related to the city of Clichy. An additional red postmark, partially visible, refers to "Premier jour d’émission" (First day of issue).

The stamp, well-centered on the envelope, bears the inscription "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" and displays the stylized profile of Marianne, an emblematic motif of French philately. The typed address in blue indicates: "SCOTEM, 11, Rue Neuve Popincourt, 75011 PARIS."

The surface of the envelope shows a smooth and matte appearance, without any apparent decorative pattern on the observed area. No additional text or illustration is visible on the presented side, with the exception of a small handwritten annotation "JF" in a square to the right of the address.

The overall presentation evokes a commemorative mailing intended for preservation, typical of first-day covers sought after for their specific postmark and historical context related to local philately.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The envelope is in good overall condition, protected by a plastic sleeve. Minor signs of handling or storage possible, with no major visible defects on the presented side.

Did you know? "First-day covers" are specially issued to mark the first official use of a stamp or commemorative postmark. In France, Marianne is a particularly symbolic stamp motif, regularly renewed since 1944 to represent the Republic on everyday mail.
