AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This philatelic envelope features a commemorative postmark clearly dated March 19, 1966, illustrating "Salon de Provence" and the "École de l’Air." It includes a French aviation-themed stamp with a clear cancellation bearing the words "République Française" and the date of the event. The illustration on the envelope shows several stylized airplanes in flight, as well as a building identified as the École de l’Air, a direct reference to French aeronautical history.
The visible side of the envelope shows a clear black and blue print, with a layout typical of commemorative envelopes issued for philatelic shows or exhibitions. The top of the vignette reads "SALON DE PROVENCE," while the bottom part bears "SCOTEM, 5 Rue Lamartine, PARIS-IXe," corresponding to the publisher or printer. A small handwritten sticker indicates "8F" in the bottom right corner.
The envelope is placed in a protective plastic sleeve, which protects the print and the stamp. The paper texture appears smooth and in good condition, as expected for a philatelic envelope intended for preservation. No other decorative elements or accessories are visible on the presented side. The word "IMPRIMÉ" partially appears on the bottom left edge.
The canceled stamp depicts a building and aeronautical motifs, consistent with the theme of the École de l’Air. The typographic print and graphic style are characteristic of the mid-20th century, confirming the 1966 dating thanks to the legibility of the postmark.
The overall presentation of the item, with its technical illustration, commemorative postmark, and clearly indicated editorial provenance, makes it a philatelic testament to the French aeronautical sector of the 1960s.
Condition
Used item sold as is. The visible envelope is protected in plastic. Some signs of wear or spots on the surface, consistent with an item of this era. The print, stamp, and postmark remain clearly visible.
