Description

First Day Cover (FDC) envelope, illustrated with a large colour photographic reproduction of the Observatoire de Haute-Provence. The vignette depicts the main building with its distinctive dome, against a blue sky, surrounded by a serrated gold-patterned frame. The caption at the top of the illustration reads: "OBSERVATOIRE DE HAUTE PROVENCE".

In the center of the envelope is a perfectly legible black commemorative postmark, bearing the inscription "PREMIER JOUR D'ÉMISSION / 4 JUIL. 1970 / O.S. St MICHEL - OBSERVATOIRE (B.-A.)". A second red postmark "FIRST DAY COVER / DÉPOSÉE" appears at the top right. The trilingual inscription "PREMIER JOUR D'ÉMISSION / FIRST DAY COVER" is printed in red at the bottom left of the visible side.

The envelope is held in a transparent plastic presentation sleeve, protecting it from dust and moisture. The paper appears to be in good condition, with no visible tears or creases on the photographed side. A small handwritten coupon, bearing the inscription "12f", is affixed to the sleeve.

The stamp is not distinctly visible in this photo, but the ensemble presents the characteristic elements of French commemorative philatelic envelopes from the 1970s, with a neat visual and official mentions in French and English.

Condition

Second-hand item sold as is. The envelope appears well preserved with clear inscriptions, no apparent stains or creases on the visible side. Presented in a transparent plastic sleeve.
