AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
First day cover (FDC) philatelic envelope dedicated to the 9th International Congress of Accounting, held in Paris in 1957. The visible side features a colorful graphic design typical of the 1950s, highlighting a large illustrated label with a golden scale, the number "9" in red, and the inscriptions "9e Congrès International de Comptabilité" (9th International Congress of Accounting) and "Paris 1957." The blue and yellow numbers in the background and the red border complete the period graphic style.
The envelope includes an official canceled stamp from Paris, dated September 2, 1957, with the mention "PREMIER JOUR D'ÉMISSION" in French and "First Day Cover" in English. Two circular postmarks are affixed to the right side, one bearing the congress's mention and date, the other indicating the location in Paris. A green "PREMIER JOUR D’EMISSION" print is also visible on the lower left of the front.
The stamp and postmarks are clearly visible and sharp, confirming the authenticity of the first day issue. The envelope is protected in a transparent plastic sleeve, preserving the condition of the paper and markings.
The overall composition features a remarkable graphic design, with a color palette dominated by blue, yellow, red, and gold, typical of event philately from the 1950s. The illustration style evokes post-war visual trends, combining modernity and accounting symbolism (the scale).
The handwritten mention "10F" on a small piece of paper attached to the sleeve seems to indicate an old price or internal reference, without impacting the integrity of the item itself.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. The envelope is protected in a plastic sleeve, with some reflections and creases visible on the protection, but the content appears to be in very good overall condition on the observed side. No chips or apparent stains on the visible part.
