Description
This First Day Cover, dedicated to the bicentenary of Napoleon Bonaparte, features a color illustration inspired by the famous painting "Bonaparte Crossing the Alps" (Château de Versailles Museum). The visible side shows a detailed visual of Napoleon's equestrian portrait, printed with vivid shades dominated by red, blue, and beige. The envelope bears the inscription "PREMIER JOUR D'ÉMISSION / FIRST DAY COVER" and "BICENTENAIRE" at the top.
A French postage stamp is affixed to the top right, accompanied by a round postmark indicating "AJACCIO" and a legible date: August 16, 1969. The mention "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE" is also present, attesting to the philatelic nature of the item. The entire piece is protected by a transparent sleeve. A handwritten "12F" marking is visible in a box on the bottom right of the envelope.
The postal cachet shows a stylized portrait, reinforcing the commemorative nature of this envelope. The inscriptions are clear and well-centered, with a neat presentation typical of First Day Covers (FDCs). No other graphic elements or text are apparent on the visible side, apart from the official mentions and the main illustration.
The surface of the envelope has a smooth finish and appears well-preserved under protective plastic. No pronounced creases, tears, or major stains are observable on the visible side. The printing quality of the illustration and texts is consistent, without notable defects.
Condition
