Description

Illustrated First Day Cover (FDC) for Boulogne-sur-Mer, visible under plastic protection. The main visual features a stylized ship, a lighthouse, and maritime elements, on a colorful blue, green, and purple background. The inscription "PREMIER JOUR D'ÉMISSION" (FIRST DAY OF ISSUE) and "HISTORIQUE F.D.C." (HISTORIC F.D.C.) are clearly legible in the upper right corner. The envelope bears the mention "BOULOGNE-SUR-MER" in capital letters in the lower left, accompanied by an illustrated vignette and a stamp matching the main design.

Two round postmarks are clearly visible, mentioning "PREMIER JOUR" (FIRST DAY) and the date July 8, 1967, with the location "BOULOGNE-SUR-MER." The stamp is precisely canceled over the illustration, confirming the status of this envelope as an FDC (First Day Cover). An identification number "114" appears on a label affixed to the bottom right.

The envelope has a glossy finish under plastic protection. The outlines, colors, and inscriptions are well-preserved on the visible side. No major defects appear in the image. The maritime theme is highlighted by the presence of the boat, the lighthouse, and the wavy patterns in the foreground.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The envelope appears to be in good overall condition on the visible side, protected by a transparent plastic sleeve. The colors remain vibrant, and the inscriptions are legible. Possible signs of wear or defects are not visible under the current protection.

Did you know? First Day Covers (FDCs) are issued to commemorate the first official release of a stamp. They are generally canceled in the city or place related to the stamp's subject, in this case, Boulogne-sur-Mer, on July 8, 1967, which enhances their interest for postal history.
