First Day Cover Bazoches-du-Morvan Castle Philately FDC
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This First Day Cover, shown in the photo, features a printed illustration of the Château de Bazoches du Morvan, framed by a green border. The colorful image highlights the typical architecture of the site and its rolling surroundings, with "SÉRIE TOURISTIQUE" at the top right and "CHÂTEAU DE BAZOCHES DU MORVAN" at the bottom left, both printed in capital letters.
The envelope includes a matching stamp also depicting the château, postmarked with a First Day cancellation bearing the inscription "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION 30-9-72 CHÂTEAU DE BAZOCHES DU MORVAN". The text "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION FIRST DAY COVER" appears in blue on the left side of the envelope. A small insert numbered "107" is affixed in the lower right corner. The entire item is protected by a transparent plastic sleeve.
The visible side shows a classic rectangular envelope format for this type of philatelic item, with a white surface and clear prints. The postal cancellation is applied twice on the right side, clearly legible, which reinforces the authenticity of the First Day issue. The overall presentation is neat, with no traces of handwriting on the shown side.
The color printing of the illustration and the matching stamp demonstrate the particular care taken with this issue, typical of First Day Covers produced to mark the release of a stamp dedicated to a French tourist or historical site.
The visible number "107" suggests a numbered edition, a common practice for some First Day Covers, but no additional information is visible on the image regarding the exact series or the quantity issued.
Condition
The envelope is presented in a protective plastic sleeve. The visible side shows no stains, tears, or major defects. Some reflections are present on the plastic. Used item, sold as is.
Did you know? The Château de Bazoches, located in the Morvan, was the property of Vauban, the famous military engineer of Louis XIV. First Day Covers (FDC) are issued specifically to mark the official release of a new stamp and are valued for the clarity of their first day of issue cancellation.
