Description

This First Day Cover features the Château d'Amboise, illustrated in color with an architectural view of the castle's right wing as it appeared in 1561. The envelope shows a clear and detailed print, highlighting the period architectural elements with shades of beige, brown, and blue-gray. The mention "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION" (First Day of Issue) clearly appears at the top right, accompanied by a round commemorative postmark indicating the date of June 15, 1955, in Amboise (I. et L.), typical of French philatelic FDCs (First Day Covers). An obliterated postage stamp, specially issued for this release, as well as an orange post office marking, are also visible.

The front, visible in the photo, is protected by a transparent plastic sleeve. The inscription "ALLÉE DROITE DU CHÂTEAU D’AMBOISE EN 1561" (Right Alley of the Château d'Amboise in 1561) is on the left of the engraving, while the upper right part specifies the philatelic context of the envelope. The design is of great finesse, typical of official French Post issues of the period. No other text or illustration is visible on this side.

The two round postmarks "PREMIER JOUR CHATEAU D’AMBOISE 15 JUIN 1955 AMBOISE (I. ET L.)" (First Day CHATEAU D’AMBOISE JUNE 15 1955 AMBOISE (I. AND L.)) are perfectly legible and positioned on the right side, partially covering the stamp. The stamp, with a face value of 30 francs, matches the castle theme.

The visible surface of the envelope appears clean, with no apparent creases, stains, or tears, apart from some reflections due to the plastic protection. A small handwritten label "LJP" is affixed to the bottom right.

Condition

Used item sold as is, protected in a plastic sleeve. No major alterations visible on the presented side. Inscriptions, illustrations, and postmarks are clear and well-preserved.
