AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
First Day Cover dedicated to the Red Cross, illustrated with a red and black graphic design evoking the organization's emblematic cross. On the visible side, the envelope features two circular red postmarks stating "PREMIER JOUR DE L’ÉMISSION 27-12-66 LA CROIX-ROUGE POSTE SAINT-ÉTIENNE," attesting to its authenticity as a "First Day Cover" (FDC) issued on the occasion of a special stamp issue in 1966.
The envelope includes a visible stamp, affixed to the bottom right, illustrating a figurative scene in shades of gray, and bears the inscription "1966." The upper part is adorned with a stylized visual, with the inscription "LA CROIX ROUGE" on the left side. A small red square with an abstract motif also appears below the main visual, adding an extra graphic touch.
A white insert, attached to the lower part of the envelope, displays the handwritten inscription "10F." The envelope is preserved in a transparent plastic sleeve, which helps maintain its overall condition.
The document presents a typical composition of commemorative philatelic envelopes, combining thematic illustration, a specific stamp, and a first-day cancellation. The whole is enhanced by a simple presentation, suitable for the category of commemorative philatelic mail.
The inscriptions and graphic elements are clear and well-contrasted, with a predominance of red, black, and white. No details of the reverse or interior are visible in the photo.
Condition
The envelope is visible in a plastic sleeve, which limits direct observation of the paper's condition, but it presents a clean and well-preserved appearance on the visible side. No tears, major folds, or visible stains are observable in the photo. Used item sold as is.
Did you know? "First Day" Covers (FDCs) mark the official first day of circulation for a stamp. They are usually cancelled with a commemorative postmark from the issue date, here in honor of the Red Cross, an organization founded in 1863 and recognized for its international humanitarian work.
