Description

This First Day Cover, also known as FDC, is dedicated to the French Red Cross and dated 1967. On the visible side, it features a colorful illustration on a red background with the inscription "CROIX ROUGE 1967" surrounded by a golden border, as well as a scene depicting a nurse and children, typical of the humanitarian iconography of the period.

Two postage stamps are affixed on the right side, each illustrating sculpted figures and bearing a small red cross, the symbol of the organization. The visible face values are 0.30 F and 0.40 F. The red postmarks read "LACROIX-ROUGE PREMIER JOUR 76 DIEPPE 16 DÉC. 1967" with the depiction of a ship and the cross, indicating the First Day cancellation specific to this philatelic event.

In the bottom left, the envelope bears the bilingual inscription "PREMIER JOUR D'ÉMISSION / FIRST DAY COVER". The mention "MODÈLE DÉPOSÉ EXCLUSIVITÉ O.P.S." is also visible at the top of the illustration, indicating an official edition.

The entire item is presented in a transparent plastic sleeve, allowing for a good view of the front's state of preservation. The colors are well preserved, with a notable shine on the golden frame. The overall condition appears satisfactory for an envelope of this era, with slight superficial marks on the protective plastic, with no visible impact on the item itself.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The visible side shows excellent color freshness, with no apparent tears or creases on the illustrated part or the stamps. The envelope is protected by a plastic sleeve, which may have very slight signs of wear.

Did you know? The tradition of First Day Covers (FDCs) allows philatelists to keep an official souvenir of the first issue of a stamp. In France, the Red Cross has organized a special stamp issue every year since 1952, with a portion of the sales donated to the association, thus contributing to its humanitarian funding.
