AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Illustrated First Day Cover, dedicated to Eugène Delacroix and his iconic work "Liberty Leading the People". The visible side features a color reproduction of the famous painting, framed with a golden fillet, accompanied by the mentions "Musée du Louvre - Paris" and "Modèle déposé exclusivité O.S.P." at the top. The visual composition highlights the allegorical figure of Liberty brandishing the tricolor flag, a motif immediately recognizable by art and philately enthusiasts.
In the upper right corner, the envelope features two cancelled French stamps, each bearing a circular "Premier Jour d’Émission - Paris - 1982" postmark, attesting to its authenticity as a FDC (First Day Cover). The stamps bear the effigy of Delacroix and the mention "République Française"; one has a face value of 3.00 F, the other 1.60 F, both in shades of purple and brown. The postmark is clear and legible on the displayed side.
The entire item is protected in a transparent plastic sleeve, ensuring its good preservation. The envelope paper appears clean and free of visible stains through the protection, and the visual colors remain vibrant. The text printed at the bottom left specifies: "Premier Jour d’Émission – First Day Cover."
The graphic presentation, typical of French commemorative philatelic issues from the early 1980s, highlights both national artistic heritage and postal printing expertise. No major defects are visible on this side: no folds, snags, or apparent signs of wear under the sleeve.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. Presented in a protective plastic sleeve. The envelope appears to be in very good visual condition on the exposed side, with no noticeable defects. The stamps and cancellations are clear.
