Description

Illustrated philatelic First Day Cover dedicated to Georges Cuvier (1769-1832), the famous French naturalist. The envelope features a full-color illustration depicting a portrait of Georges Cuvier, accompanied by a dinosaur skeleton, against a background of pale green, beige, and mauve hues. The illustration is marked "d'après Serveau" (after Serveau).

The First Day postmark is clearly visible, dated November 17, 1969, in Montbéliard, featuring the portrait of Cuvier and the dates 1769-1832. A purple stamp, bearing the image of Georges Cuvier, is affixed to the envelope, along with the inscription "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION – FIRST DAY COVER" printed in red.

The item is protected by a transparent plastic sleeve, revealing all main visual elements. A small handwritten insert "1 NF" is visible on the bottom right of the sleeve. The front of the envelope is the only side visible in the photo, with no indication of the content or the back.

The envelope paper has a smooth, matte appearance, typical of philatelic emissions from the second half of the 20th century. The colors of the illustration remain vibrant and precise. The inscriptions are crisp and perfectly legible on the front side.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The envelope is under plastic protection, with slight handling marks and some creases visible on the protective film. The overall condition remains good for a philatelic piece from this era.
