Description

Illustrated First Day Cover, issued for the 1957 World University Games, held in Antonvsieme. The front features a colorful drawing depicting a flag adorned with a quartered coat of arms, accompanied by the inscription "Jeux Universitaires Mondiaux 1957" (World University Games 1957) and the dates "31 août - 8 sept." (August 31 - Sept 8). The flag is enhanced with a stylized red and blue globe motif on the flagpole, signed "Cuno."

The right side of the envelope features the bilingual inscription "PREMIER JOUR DE MISSION – FIRST DAY COVER," as well as "émission officielle" (official issue) printed in red. Two round postmarks are clearly visible, dated 31/8/1957 and bearing the inscription "JEUX UNIVERSITAIRES MONDIAUX ANTONVSIEME" (World University Games Antonvsieme). The central postmark features the silhouette of a running athlete, typical of sporting iconography of the era.

A French postage stamp, bearing the effigy of Marianne, is affixed to the upper right of the envelope. The typewritten address to "Monsieur N... 32 Rue des Fontaines, LE MANS, Sarthe" is clearly legible on the front. The envelope is presented in a protective plastic sleeve, ensuring the visibility of the illustrations and postal markings.

The graphic composition and typography are characteristic of the late 1950s, with a clean style and bold colors. The overall condition appears good from the visible side, with no apparent tears or stains, apart from some reflections related to the plastic protection.
