Description

First Day Cover, illustrated on the front with a medallion portrait and a recognized building: the Lycée Louis-le-Grand in Paris. The colorized illustration depicts a man in a period wig, bust-length, against a background of an architectural facade, with the inscription "1563 – 1963 Quatrième Centenaire Lycée Louis-le-Grand" (Fourth Centenary Lycée Louis-le-Grand). The main colors are black, brick red, green, and beige tones.

The front of this commemorative envelope features two navy blue circular postmarks, stating "PREMIER JOUR QUATRIÈME CENTENAIRE LYCÉE LOUIS-LE-GRAND PARIS 18 MAI 63" (First Day Fourth Centenary Lycée Louis-le-Grand Paris 18 May 63). Also visible is a French postage stamp, matching the event, with a building illustration and a face value of 0.30 F, as well as the inscription "République Française" (French Republic) legible on the stamp.

The legend printed at the top right specifies: "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION N° 482 HISTORIQUE FLAMBOYANT" (First Day of Issue N° 482 FLAMBOYANT HISTORIC). A partially legible red stamp at the bottom left attests to the philatelic authenticity of the issue. The entire item is protected by a transparent plastic sleeve, visible in the image, which preserves the condition of the paper and impressions.

The envelope features a clear print, well-preserved colors, and no apparent stains or creases on the visible area. A small white sticker with the handwritten price "10F" is affixed to the lower left corner. No information is visible regarding the back or interior.

This type of envelope is also referred to as FDC (First Day Cover), commemorative first day cover, or illustrated philatelic cover, highly sought after by stamp enthusiasts and thematic postal document collectors interested in the history of education and French institutions.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The visible side of the envelope appears to be in good overall condition, under plastic protection. Slight handling marks are possible, with no major apparent defects on the observable part.
