Description

This First Day Cover (FDC) features a vibrant illustration highlighting the coat of arms of Oran, a stylized map of the region, and two figures in historical attire. The design is printed on a white, matte-finish envelope, protected by a transparent plastic sleeve.

The central visual depicts a quartered coat of arms adorned with three golden stars, a crescent, and leonine motifs, set against an orange-hued map of Oran. Two human figures, including a helmeted soldier and a person in a white cape, are positioned in front of the coat of arms, emphasizing the commemorative and historical nature of this issue.

In the upper left, the inscription "PREMIER JOUR D'ÉMISSION HISTORIQUE N° 850 F.D.C." is clearly printed in red. In the lower left, the word "ORAN" is shown in capital letters. A legible circular postal cancellation bears the inscription "VILLE D’ORAN" with the date 25 OCT. 60, confirming its issuance in 1960.

A matching stamp, featuring the same coat of arms, is affixed to the upper right of the visible side. A handwritten label "10F" is also visible on the plastic sleeve, likely an old selling price or an internal reference.

The overall visual, its preserved condition within the sleeve, and the presence of the period philatelic postmark make this envelope a historical piece of correspondence, typical of mid-20th century commemorative issues.
