Description

This CEF art sheet features the Château de Ripaille, located in Haute-Savoie. The visible side presents a colored illustration by Odette Balliès, a painter, depicting the main facade of the castle with its crenellated towers, a red and white Savoy coat of arms, and a stylized historical portrait superimposed. The drawing occupies the left part of the sheet, while a detailed note on the history of the castle is printed on the right.

The sheet also features a commemorative postmark "CHÂTEAU DE RIPAILLE 74200 THONON LES BAINS" dated, accompanied by a 2.90 F stamped vignette, illustrated with a view of the monument. The inscriptions are clear and legible, with the mention "Château de Ripaille" in Gothic letters below the main illustration.

The document is framed with a golden fillet and mounted on a white cardboard support, perforated on the left side. The edge of the sheet bears the reference "N° 547 du carnetage CEF" as well as the copy number visible at the bottom left: 5556. The mention CEF (Créations Philatéliques Françaises) attests to the philatelic origin of the object, specifically published for stamp and commemorative document enthusiasts.

This sheet stands out for the quality of its illustration, the clarity of its texts, and the elegant layout typical of CEF issues. The whole is in good visual condition on the presented side, without apparent major defects, which makes it an appreciated piece for highlighting a regional or historical theme.

The sheet is dedicated to thematic philately and French architectural history, with added value thanks to the artistic signature of Odette Balliès. The printed text traces the history of the castle from its medieval origins to its contemporary uses, offering precise cultural and heritage context.
