Description
This CEF philatelic sheet features a strong and symbolic visual dedicated to the fight against racism. On the visible side, there is a colorful illustration representing two intertwined hands, one green and one red, forming a gesture of friendship. The words "AMITIÉ" (FRIENDSHIP) and "lutte contre le racisme" (fight against racism) are integrated into the composition, in green, pink, and blue characters, emphasizing the universal message of fraternity and solidarity.
The sheet includes a cancelled French postage stamp, at a rate of 2.30, which also features the theme "fight against racism" with a black and white illustration of clasped hands. The cancellation bears the mention "PARIS" and the issue date is visible on the vignette. The document is presented on a white cardboard backing, with a gray border, and a perforation on the left for filing in a philatelic binder.
An explanatory text occupies the right side of the sheet, tracing the history and importance of the fight against racism, from the Universal Declaration of 1948 to the denunciation of contemporary discrimination. The lower right part specifies that the illustration is signed by the artist Dessirier, decorator and creator of the issued stamp.
The sheet bears the number 305 at the bottom left, as well as the mention "N° 626 du catalogue CEF" (No. 626 of the CEF catalog) vertically. The whole is in very good visual condition, with no trace of folding or apparent defect on the presented side. The colors remain vibrant and the printing crisp, suitable for presentation or storage in a specialized album.
This type of first day cover (FDC) is sought after in thematic philately, highlighting values of tolerance and friendship. It is an ideal medium to complete a series on great causes or French commemorative issues.
