Description

This illustrated sheet, published by CEF, highlights the "Year of the Norman Abbeys" and focuses on the sites of Bernay and Saint-Pierre-sur-Dives. The document is presented as a cardboard sheet protected in a transparent plastic sleeve, typical of CEF philatelic sheets. On the visible part, several color photographs can be seen: at the top right, Bernay Abbey appears under a blue sky, while at the bottom right is the vaulted interior of Saint-Pierre-sur-Dives Abbey. A detailed text, in French, traces the architectural and cultural history of these Norman abbeys, highlighting the evolution of Gothic and Benedictine style in the region.

The bottom right part of the sheet features a French postage stamp, illustrating abbey architecture, accompanied by a round commemorative postmark "Année des Abbayes Normandes". This presentation is typical of CEF issues, which combine an illustration, an explanatory text, and a dedicated first day cancellation. The sheet bears the number 1410° at the bottom left, confirming its reference in the CEF series.

On the left edge of the sleeve, the marking "N° 505 du catalogue CEF" is clearly visible, attesting to its philatelic origin. The whole presents an elegant layout, with a golden frame and refined typography. The surface of the sheet appears clean, without visible defects, and the plastic sleeve ensures its good preservation.

The text printed on the sheet discusses the history of Norman abbeys, their architectural specificities, and their role in the rise of Gothic in Normandy. The photos highlight the diversity of styles and the richness of the regional religious heritage. The presence of the stamp and the first day postmark enhances the philatelic interest of this piece.

The photographed item corresponds to a commemorative philatelic sheet, ideal for any enthusiast of thematic philately or Norman regional history, with a careful presentation and quality illustrations.
