Description

This philatelic sheet, issued by the CEF (Cercle des Émissions Philatéliques Françaises), honors the Council of Europe with the theme "One Youth - One Future". It features three stamps of different colors (blue, green, and red), placed on the left side of the sheet, each displaying a distinct face value (0.80 F, 1.00 F, and 2.20 F). The stamps are canceled with a commemorative postmark "Conseil de l’Europe – Une jeunesse, un avenir – 1er jour – 5 JUIL 1985 – Strasbourg".

The sheet is illustrated on the right by a graphic work signed by François Thouvenin, depicting a cracked eggshell from which a stylized red and green silhouette emerges, symbolizing youth and the future. The illustration adds a contemporary and symbolic touch to the whole, in keeping with the message of renewal conveyed by the issue.

Below the illustration and the stamps is a detailed explanatory note, printed in black on a white background, which traces the history of the Council of Europe's stamp issues since 1958, as well as the genesis of this particular sheet linked to the International Youth Year in 1985.

The sheet is mounted on a cardboard CEF presentation page, perforated on the left (two visible holes), with the mention "N° 768 in the CEF catalog" and the page number "107" at the bottom left. The whole is neatly presented, with clear texts and a well-contrasted central visual.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The sheet has a generally clean appearance, with no major visible defects on the photographed side. The colors of the stamps and illustration are well preserved, the text is legible, and the cancellation is clear. Possible presence of traces of use or slight marks related to handling, without affecting the legibility or integrity of the presented support.

Did you know? The Council of Europe, founded in 1949 in Strasbourg, is the oldest European intergovernmental organization. Since 1958, it has had its own stamp issues, used to frank official mail sent from its post office in Strasbourg, making it a sought-after philatelic specificity on the international market.
