Description
This CEF (Connaissance et Etude de la Philatélie Française et Etrangère) philatelic sheet is dedicated to the "Creation of Professional Unions." It features a horizontal layout, typical of commemorative sheets, with perforations on the left suitable for binder storage. The sheet displays an explanatory text about the Waldeck-Rousseau Law of March 21, 1884, which framed the creation of unions in France. The central illustration, in an engraving style, highlights a medallion adorned with portraits of emblematic figures of the workers' movement, surmounted by a banner bearing the inscription "Libre constitution des Syndicats professionnels" (Free Constitution of Professional Unions).

On the upper right, there is a French postage stamp with a face value of 3.60 francs, accompanied by a first-day cancellation (round postmark) dated March 22, 1984, in Paris. The postmark bears the inscription "Création des Syndicats Professionnels 1884-1984" and stylized portraits of two men, likely associated with trade union history. The whole is printed on a visually smooth, predominantly white background, with textual and graphic elements in black and beige.

The numbering "3039" appears in the bottom left, indicating the individual number of this sheet in the series. The limited edition is mentioned on the side, specifying 33,800 copies issued, some of which are on silk, which emphasizes the specificity of this CEF (Connaissance et Etude de la Philatélie Française et Etrangère) edition.

The sheet is adorned with an illustration signed "H. Catherin" in the bottom right. The CEF edition marks and information on the print run and distribution are also visible on the left side margin, confirming the authenticity and philatelic provenance of this item.

The overall condition of the sheet, on the visible side, appears very clean: no stains, tears, or major visible signs of wear. The visible corners and edges are sharp. The sheet shows a slight surface undulation, often typical of philatelic materials stored in sleeves or binders.

Condition
Used item, sold in original condition. The visible side shows no major defects. Slight undulation possible, with no impact on the readability or integrity of the sheet.

Did you know? The Waldeck-Rousseau Law of 1884, mentioned on this sheet, marked a major turning point in French social history by legalizing professional unions. Before this date, any workers' coalition had been prohibited since the French Revolution. This law allowed for the rapid development of trade unionism in France, enduringly influencing the world of work.
