Description

This CEF commemorative sheet pays tribute to Édouard Herriot (1872-1957), a major political figure and historical mayor of Lyon. The visible side features a black and white portrait of Herriot on the right, accompanied by a sepia photographic view of Lyon City Hall, as well as its municipal coat of arms in vibrant colors (red, blue, gold, and silver). The presentation is meticulous, with a beige frame and a structured layout, typical of prestige philatelic sheets.

At the top, the dates "1872 ÉDOUARD HERRIOT 1957" are printed in black letters, emphasizing the commemorative nature of the issue. A stamp bearing the effigy of Édouard Herriot (face value 1.00 franc) is integrated on the left, accompanied by a First Day cancellation "ÉDOUARD HERRIOT 1872-1957, 69-LYON" with the visible date and a vignette featuring the portrait of the personage.

The sheet presents a long biographical text in French recounting Herriot's political, academic, and municipal career, his functions (deputy, Prime Minister, senator, academician, mayor of Lyon), and his major achievements. The information is printed in black characters on a white background, ensuring perfect readability. The left part mentions the limited edition and numbering (copy n° 10000 out of 33,800), as well as the reference "N° 424 of the CEF Catalog" on the side margin.

The visual aspect of the sheet harmoniously combines illustration, photography, and heraldic elements. The main colors are black and white for the text and portraits, with touches of blue, red, and gold on the Lyon shield, and a sepia photograph of the City Hall. The support features perforations on the left edge, typical of sheets to be filed in a philatelic album.

The sheet is presented flat, with the front side fully visible. No obvious defects are noticeable in the provided photo; the surface appears clean, with no apparent folds or stains.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The visible side is in very good apparent condition; for any questions about the precise condition or possible signs of wear, do not hesitate to ask for additional photos.
