Description

This illustrated philatelic sheet features a commemorative issue dedicated to "Tautavel Man". The visible side displays a richly illustrated composition, combining a drawing of a prehistoric skull, animals (elephant, rhinoceros), and a fire scene, signed by artist Marie-Noëlle Goffin. In the upper left corner, a 3.40 franc postage stamp, accompanied by a First Day cancellation depicting a hominid silhouette, completes the ensemble. The sheet includes a detailed explanatory text about the discovery and importance of Tautavel Man, printed in black on a white background, with an elegant black frame.

The presentation is meticulous, under original transparent plastic protection. On the left side margin, one can see the inscription "N° 1039 du catalogue CEF", the mention "Éditions des Feuillets Souvenir Philatéliques CEF" as well as the reference to SODOP, Paris. The limited edition number "5593" is distinctly printed at the bottom left of the sheet.

The sheet is rectangular, with a horizontal layout and quality printing. The overall piece is typical of CEF (Courrier d’Entreprise à la Française) productions, known in the field of philately for their limited and thematic editions. The general condition observed is excellent, with no visible defects on the front, and the plastic protection appears intact.

The visual blends scientific illustration and historical evocation, with a dominance of sepia, orange, and gray tones. The ensemble highlights the heritage and educational aspect of the sheet, suitable for both display and preservation in a philatelic album.
