Description

This CEF philatelic sheet celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of French television (1935-1985). On the visible side, it features a large stylized illustration: a portrait in grey, black, red, and yellow tones, evoking a television screen with horizontal colored bands, on a white background. The illustration, signed by artist Jacques Combet, takes center stage and catches the eye with its graphic style, evoking pixelation and early video displays.

To the right, a printed text titled "LA TELEVISION (1935-1985)" traces the history and major advancements of television in France, mentioning researchers and inventors such as Brillouin, Barthelemy, and Salneuve. The text is printed in black on a white background, in clear and legible typography. The careful layout is reminiscent of the prestigious presentations typical of CEF sheets.

In the bottom left of the illustration is a commemorative stamp "1935 TÉLÉVISION 1985 RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE 2,50 F", with a colored dot motif (green, red, blue). The stamp bears a special postmark "1935-1985 TÉLÉVISION PREMIER JOUR PARIS" with a central effigy. This First Day postmark attests to the philatelic and commemorative nature of the sheet.

On the left lateral border, we find the mention "N°754 du catalogue CEF" as well as various publishing information, the CEF logo, and the copy number "7809" printed at the bottom left. The whole is presented on a white satin-effect support, typical of the prestigious philatelic sheets published by CEF.
