AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This CEF philatelic sheet features the Cheviré Bridge in Nantes, illustrated with a stylized architectural drawing in color, showing the bridge in perspective over the Loire. On the left side, a 2.50 F stamp is integrated, also depicting the bridge, accompanied by a "Nantes 1989" first-day cancellation with a stylized bridge motif. The central area is occupied by an explanatory text on the history and construction of the Cheviré Bridge, printed in black on a white background, with a neat layout typical of CEF editions.
The sheet has a fine frame and a balanced composition, with an illustration on the right signed by Pierre Forget, winner of the Philatelic Art Prize. The main colors observed are white, black, blue, gray, and red, providing an elegant contrast that highlights both the stamp and the illustration. The printed text provides technical and historical details relating to the structure, emphasizing its importance in the Nantes landscape and the road network of western France.
On the left side, the cardboard support bears the mention "CEF Catalog No. 1042" as well as the limited edition print run (33,000 copies), individual numbering (here 3479), and information about the publisher. Three perforations on the left edge allow for filing in a philatelic binder.
The visible face of the sheet shows no major signs of wear or apparent defects; the paper and printing appear to be in good condition, with sharp edges and a clean surface. The inscriptions and motifs are perfectly legible, making it a neatly presented document for any enthusiast of thematic philately or contemporary architecture.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. The visible side shows very good overall condition, with no tears or noticeable stains.
Did you know? The Cheviré Bridge, inaugurated in 1991, is a strategic link in the Nantes ring road. Its curved deck spans the Loire and supports heavy traffic connecting the two banks of the agglomeration. Pierre Forget's work, reproduced on the sheet, has won several awards for its contribution to French philately.
