Description

This illustrated philatelic souvenir sheet, published by Éditions CEF, pays tribute to Léon Jouhaux (1879-1954), an emblematic figure of French trade unionism. The visible side features a carefully designed layout including a large color photograph of Léon Jouhaux, accompanied by detailed biographical text on the right, printed in black on a white background. The sheet is enhanced by a golden frame that highlights its commemorative aspect.

In the upper left of the main illustration, there is a French postage stamp bearing the effigy of Léon Jouhaux, with a face value of 1.50 F. This stamp is postmarked with a "JOUHAUX 19.1. PARIS" first-day cover postmark, marking a specific philatelic event. Next to the stamp, a circular design highlights Jouhaux's stylized profile and the mention "Nobel Peace Prize 1951".

The sheet bears the inscription "LEON JOUHAUX 1879-1954" in black capital letters below the portrait. On the left margin are several publication details: "N° 498 du catalogue CEF", as well as the individual copy number "9478". It also states that the print run is limited to 33,800 copies, including 13,500 on silk, emphasizing the limited nature of this edition.

The biographical text printed on the right traces Léon Jouhaux's career, his commitments to peace and social justice, and his Nobel Prize distinction. The whole testifies to a quality philatelic editing work, typical of CEF sheets, highly appreciated for their presentation and the richness of their visual and historical content.

The presented sheet is preserved in a protective sleeve with three perforations, suitable for storage in a collection binder. The overall condition visible in the photo appears clean, with no tears or significant alterations on the shown side. No signs of wear, creases, or stains are visible on the displayed area.
