Description

This illustrated philatelic sheet is dedicated to "Tautavel Man." The visible side features a meticulously designed graphic composition, with a large central illustration combining a prehistoric skull, bones, stylized flames, and prehistoric animals (elephant, rhinoceros, horses). In the upper left is a blue 3.40 F postage stamp, franked with a specific First Day postmark bearing the inscription "L'Homme de Tautavel." The title "L'HOMME DE TAUTAVEL" appears in black capital letters at the top of the sheet.

The left part of the sheet contains printed text detailing the history of the discovery and the scientific importance of Tautavel Man, mentioning the illustrator Marie-Noëlle Goffin. The presentation is typical of sheets issued by the CEF (Connaissance et Étude de la Philatélie Française), recognizable by the triple perforation on the left side border and the inscription "N° 1082 du catalogue CEF."

The sheet stands out for its neat appearance, contrasting colors (dominant white, black, red, blue, and beige), and printing quality. The individual number "5599" is visible at the bottom left, indicating a limited edition. The explanatory text discusses the 1971 discovery, the analysis of fossil remains, and their importance for European prehistory.

The item also shows the inscription "Tirage limité" (Limited Edition) and a reference to S.O.D.O.P.I. (Société d'Études et d'Organisation de la Philatélie et de l'Imprimerie). Overall, it suggests a quality production, intended for thematic philately and documentary preservation.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The visible side appears in good overall condition, with no major defects observable in the photo. The edges and perforations seem intact; the printing remains clear and legible.
