AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This illustrated CEF sheet honors Marc Seguin, an emblematic figure of French engineering, in the "Famous Men" series. On the left side of the sheet, a drawn portrait of Marc Seguin, created by René Quillivic (Grand Prix de Rome for engraving and creator of the issued stamp), is printed with an ocher-yellow background. Below the portrait, the name "Marc SEGUIN" is clearly legible, accompanied by the series and illustrator's mention.
On the right, the sheet presents a biographical text outlining Marc Seguin's major contributions, particularly in the field of steam locomotives and suspension bridges. The lower right part of the sheet includes the "First Day" postmark dated February 22, 1986, in Annonay, as well as a 2.70 F postage stamp bearing the effigy of Marc Seguin, whose design incorporates the portrait and technical elements related to his inventions. The First Day cancellation is clear and legible.
The sheet features a typical composition of CEF philatelic issues: original illustration on the left, historical text on the right, attached stamp and First Day canceled. The whole is printed on smooth-looking paper, with sober borders and an elegant layout.
The inscription "Sheet illustrated by René QUILLIVIC, Grand Prix de Rome for engraving and creator of the issued stamp" is visible at the bottom left. The stamp, predominantly blue-green, bears the mention "Marc Seguin" and the face value of 2.70 F. The sheet appears to be in good overall condition on the visible side, without tears or apparent stains.
The sheet is presented flat in the photo, with the upper part of a CEF card visible in the background, confirming the edition and authenticity of the philatelic item.
