Description

This CEF philatelic sheet honors Michelangelo (1475-1564) and his famous "Slaves" sculptures. On the visible side, the sheet features a neat layout with, on the left, a cancelled 0.75 € stamp illustrating a work by Michelangelo, accompanied by a first day cancel "Michel Ange Esclaves Paris". The center of the sheet displays the title in bold black letters "Michel-Ange 1475-1564 Esclaves", while on the right is a reproduction of a slave sculpture created by the Italian Renaissance artist.

The sheet is printed on white paper with a brown frame, protected by a transparent plastic sleeve. The entire set is numbered at the bottom left (00067). At the top left is the mention "N° 1652 du catalogue CEF", confirming the official edition by the CEF (La Société d’Études Philatéliques Françaises).

The text printed at the bottom of the sheet traces Michelangelo's biography and the history of the two sculptures represented, "Rebellious Slave" and "Dying Slave", major works of artistic heritage. The presentation highlights both the artistic and historical dimensions of these creations, with an illustration signed by Vachon.

The vertical stamp features a portrait of Michelangelo and a sculptural scene, accompanied by a "First Day" cancellation dedicated to the event. The reproduction of the sculpture on the right offers a profile view of the figure, with a sepia tone on a light background, accentuating the relief and shape of the model.

The entire set is in very good visual condition on the front side, with no visible tears or folds in the photo. The plastic sleeve effectively protects the sheet and guarantees the good preservation of the philatelic item.
