Description
This CEF philatelic souvenir sheet honors the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. It is an illustrated sheet published by the CEF (Cercle des Émissions de France), visible under a three-hole plastic sleeve, typical of philatelic presentations for specialized binders. The upper part features a black and white illustration, signed by Jacques Gauthier, depicting two wrestlers, Olympic rings, and an athlete carrying a red disk marked "90". On the left, the vertical inscription "LOS-ANGELES" and, on the right, "1984" in red, frame the sports scene.
In the lower part, the sheet incorporates a French 4.00 franc stamp, bearing the effigy of the International Olympic Committee, accompanied by a First Day postmark (legible round black postmark: "XXIIIe OLYMPIADE LOS ANGELES 1984 – 23 JUIN 1984 – PARIS") and an illustrated cancellation. The central area of the sheet also presents an explanatory text printed on the history of the Olympic Games, paying homage to the Olympic spirit and the tradition of modern neo-Olympism.
The sheet bears the mention "N° 725 du catalogue CEF" in the upper left, confirming its reference within the official series published by CEF. The left edge indicates "Émission CEF" and "Tirage limité à 20.000 exemplaires", which emphasizes the controlled nature of its production. The sheet is presented horizontally, with a brown frame and a layout characteristic of French philatelic productions from the 1980s.
The printing quality, the sharpness of the motifs, and the presence of the original stamp are clearly visible on the illustrated side. This sheet is ready to be inserted into a philatelic album, with its perforations intact. The text is printed in black on a white background, with touches of red for the main graphic elements.
The visible elements confirm that this is a genuine First Day Cover (FDC) dedicated to the 1984 Olympic Games, combining artistic illustration, commemorative stamp, and official postmark. Collectors of Olympic philately or sports themes will appreciate the visual and documentary richness of this piece.
