Description

This CEF philatelic sheet highlights Ligier Richier's work, "The Sepulchre of Saint-Mihiel," with a careful presentation typical of thematic philatelic editions. On the visible side, the title "LIGIER RICHIER – The Sepulchre of Saint-Mihiel" is clearly distinguishable, accompanied by detailed explanatory text on the artist's life and the history of this remarkable sculpture, located in the Saint-Étienne church in Saint-Mihiel (Meuse). The printed text is organized in columns, in a layout framed with golden borders, characteristic of CEF sheets.

The sheet features a color photographic illustration of the sculpted work, framed by a graphic motif. This image highlights the scene of the Sepulchre, with thirteen life-size figures, in a chiaroscuro atmosphere that evokes the solemnity of the subject. To the right, a French postage stamp "Ligier Richier – The Sepulchre of Saint-Mihiel" is integrated into the composition, with a specific black cancellation, dated, and a black and white reproduction of the sculpture.

The left part of the sheet presents the explanatory text, while the right part is dedicated to iconography and philatelic elements. The whole is printed on white cardstock, with a golden frame and elegant layout. The sheet bears the number 3748, visible at the bottom left, which attests to a limited edition, typical of CEF productions.

The general condition observed in the photo shows a clean sheet, without apparent stains or creases, with clear prints and well-preserved colors. The visible corners and edges appear to be in good condition, without tears or major marks.
