Description
This illustrated philatelic sheet is dedicated to Robert Debré (1882-1978), a key figure in French medicine and the founder of modern pediatrics. The sheet, issued by the CEF (Cercle des Émissions de France), features an elegant composition with a commemorative stamp bearing the effigy of Robert Debré, accompanied by a first-day cancellation dated March 18, 1982, in Sedan. The left side highlights a engraved portrait of the doctor, while the central part offers a handwritten reproduction and a book cover titled "L'Honneur de Vivre" (The Honor of Living).
The sheet is framed with a golden fillet and printed on white card stock, typical of CEF editions. The biographical text visible at the top traces Robert Debré's career, his major contributions to medicine and pediatric research, as well as his humanist commitments. The inscription "ROBERT DEBRÉ 1882-1978" clearly appears under the stamp, with the mention of the painter-engraver Marie Noëlle Goffin, creator of the illustration for the sheet and the stamp.
The left side of the sheet bears the inscription "Imprimé sur les presses de la Banque de France" (Printed on the presses of the Bank of France) as well as the print number "10653", evidence of a limited edition. The sheet also features the mention "N° 825 du catalogue CEF" (No. 825 of the CEF catalog) at the top left, confirming its official referencing in the philatelic series.
The whole is distinguished by a meticulous layout, combining explanatory text, graphic elements, and postal mark. The printing is clear, with marked contrasts between black and white areas. No major defects are visible on the presented side: the support appears clean, without stains or apparent creases on the visible area.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. The visible side is in good overall condition, with no major defects apparent in the photo.
