Description

This illustrated sheet issued by CEF pays tribute to Robert Debré (1882-1978), a major figure in French medicine. On the visible side, the sheet features a carefully crafted composition: on the left, a commemorative stamp bearing the effigy of Robert Debré accompanied by a "06 SEDAN" postmark. The whole is framed by a golden line that highlights the official nature of this philatelic issue.

The central part of the sheet features a handwritten text evoking Robert Debré's commitment to medical progress, understanding human needs, and relieving suffering. On the right, a drawn portrait of Robert Debré, accompanied by the title "L'Honneur de Vivre" (The Honor of Living), completes the presentation. The illustration is signed Marie Noëlle Goffin, painter-engraver and professor at the Beaux-Arts of Lille, whose name appears under the illustration.

The sheet also includes a detailed biographical note printed at the top, retracing Robert Debré's career and achievements, particularly his role in the modernization of pediatrics in France and his involvement in hospital reform. The sober layout, typographic choice, and quality of printing give this sheet an elegant and institutional appearance, typical of official commemorative issues.

The dominant colors are off-white, black, and some sepia touches for the illustrations and handwritten text. The sheet is numbered at the bottom left ("10652"), indicating a limited edition, characteristic of CEF editions. On the left border, there is the mention "Les éditions CEF" and information on the printing, confirming the authenticity and philatelic origin of the object.

The whole is in good visual condition on the presented side: the paper appears clean, without apparent traces of folds, stains, or tears on this side. It is an object intended for philately and medical history enthusiasts, highlighting both the artistic and documentary dimensions.
