This CEF philatelic sheet honors Robert Debré (1882-1978), a major figure in French medicine. The visible side features a neat layout, typical of CEF sheets, with a fine border and clear offset printing. The main illustration includes a commemorative stamp illustrated by Marie Noëlle Goffin, accompanied by a dated "First Day" postmark from Sedan, as well as a drawn portrait of Robert Debré and a handwritten excerpt from his hand.

The left side of the sheet displays the 1.60 franc stamp depicting Robert Debré's face, against a hospital building backdrop, and the circular "MAI 88 SEDAN" postmark, marked with the monogram "RD". Below, the inscription "1882-1978" indicates the professor's birth and death dates.

On the right, a reproduction of a handwritten text signed by Robert Debré, along with a stylized black and white portrait, are accompanied by the title "L'Honneur de Vivre" (The Honor of Living). The artist's name, Marie Noëlle Goffin, also appears at the bottom right.

The upper part of the sheet features a detailed biographical text tracing Robert Debré's career and contributions, particularly in the field of hospital pediatrics. The printed text is perfectly legible and highlights the doctor's humanistic commitment.

In the left margin, we can see the mention "CEF" and the catalog number "525", as well as the limited edition of 33,800 copies, of which 13,500 are on silk and 20,300 on offset (this copy is number 10644). The sheet's format is rectangular, with perforation on the left side for binder storage, characteristic of CEF sheets.

Condition

This sheet is used and sold as is. The visible side shows a clean presentation, without any apparent major defects. The printing remains clear, the corners are visible and without creases in the photographed area. The colors are well preserved, with no noticeable signs of alteration.

Did you know? Robert Debré is considered the founder of modern pediatrics in France. He was behind the creation of the University Hospital Centers (CHU) in 1958 and gave his name to the Robert-Debré pediatric hospital in Paris, inaugurated in 1988.
