Description

This illustrated philatelic sheet, published by CEF, features the Romanesque church of Talmont, emblematic of the Saintonge region. The main section displays a vibrant color illustration by Pierrette Lambert, depicting the church perched on its cliff, with stylized lines in the background evoking the movement of wind or water. In the upper left corner, a symbolic coat of arms completes the graphic composition.

The sheet includes a 3.00 franc postage stamp, illustrated by the same artist, reproducing the façade of Talmont church. Next to the stamp is a First Day cancellation dated June 15, 1985, in Talmont, with a circular vignette featuring a drawing of the religious edifice and the inscription "Église de Talmont."

The printed text on the right details the history and architecture of the Sainte-Radegonde church, highlighting its importance in the Gironde estuary landscape and its role for pilgrims on the Way of St. James.
