Description

This illustrated CEF sheet honours Victor Hugo (1802-1885), a major figure in French literature. On the visible side, there is an artistic portrait of Victor Hugo in vibrant colours, dominated by shades of pink, purple, and yellow, created by the artist Jacques Jubert. His expressive pictorial style highlights the poet's face, immediately recognisable by his strong features and intense gaze. The illustration is signed "JUBERT" in the bottom right corner of the portrait.

Below the main illustration is the inscription "VICTOR HUGO 1802-1885", accompanied by a stamp bearing his likeness, postmarked with the "First Day" cachet dated February 23, 1985, in Besançon. The stamp features a portrait of Victor Hugo in a graphic style similar to the central illustration.
