AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This illustrated CEF sheet highlights the city of Vienne (Isère), a famous historic city located on the banks of the Rhône. The visible side features a refined graphic composition, mixing black, red, and gray tones, which represent the emblematic monuments of Vienne, including the Roman Temple of Augustus and Livia, Saint-Maurice Cathedral, and various historic buildings. The central illustration, signed by artist Marie-Noëlle Goffin, shows a stylized view of the city, overlooking the Rhône, with a reflection effect on the water. The words "VIENNE sur le Rhône" are integrated into the composition.
On the lower left, a French stamp with a face value of 1.70 francs can be seen, accompanied by a "PREMIER JOUR" (First Day) postmark dated June 18, 1988, with the mention "VIENNE ISERE". An artistic cachet, in harmony with the theme of the sheet, completes this philatelic set. The right side of the sheet is occupied by a detailed text tracing the history and heritage of Vienne, printed in black on a white background, with the title "Vienne (Isère)" at the top right.
The whole is framed by a golden border, giving an elegant finish and highlighting the graphics and text. This sheet comes from the CEF edition, as attested by the mention on the visible edge on the left and the numbering (N°758 of the CEF catalog), as well as reference 1021 at the bottom left. The overall presentation evokes prestigious philatelic productions, intended to enhance French commemorative issues.
The visual condition of the sheet is very satisfactory: the illustrated surface is clean, without apparent stains or creases, and the colors remain clear and contrasted. No major defects are observable on the visible side. The quality of the printing and the clarity of the inscriptions testify to the particular care taken in the manufacture of this philatelic piece.
Condition
Used item sold as is. The visible side is in good overall condition, with no notable defects. The graphic and textual details remain perfectly legible.
