Description

This philatelic sheet, published by Éditions CEF, features a meticulous layout centered around the French stamp issued in honor of Alberto Burri, a major 20th-century Italian artist. The main part showcases an abstract illustration with dominant red and black tones, typical of Burri's style, with "ITALIE" and "ALBERTO BURRI" in silver capital letters. The geometric and contemporary visual occupies the upper left part of the sheet.

The stamp, with a face value of 5.00 francs, reproduces the abstract work in miniature and bears the inscription "ALBERTO BURRI ITALIE". A round "Premier Jour" (First Day) postmark dated March 29, 1991, in Paris is affixed below the stamp, certifying its official issuance. The sheet is protected by a transparent perforated plastic sleeve, typical of CEF presentations, allowing for filing in a binder.

To the right, a biographical text traces Alberto Burri's career, highlighting his use of non-traditional materials such as cellophane, burnt wood, or sheet metal, as well as his rejection of classic painting supports. The text is printed in black on a white background, with an elegant and legible typeface. The limited edition mention, numbered "5050," is also visible in the bottom left of the sheet.

The whole is presented on a white cardboard backing bordered by a brown line, which enhances the graphic composition and the stamp. The sheet is referenced as "N° 1108 of the CEF catalog" on the edge of the sleeve. No alterations, folds, or stains are visible on the presented side; the overall condition appears very clean.
