Description

This CEF philatelic sheet honors the Customs Cooperation Council, with an original illustration signed by Jacques Jubert. The visible side features a graphic composition blending shades of blue, yellow, and white, dominated by a large stylized compass rose in the center, evoking themes of travel and international exchange. There are also overprinted inscriptions and a reproduction of the Bordeaux Customs Museum building, accompanied by the mention "Bordeaux Musée des Douanes."

The sheet bears the inscription "CONSEIL DE COOPÉRATION DOUANIÈRE" on the left, as well as a specific dated cancellation illustrated with the same compass rose motif. The face value indicated is 2.30. An explanatory text in the lower right details the history and role of the Customs Cooperation Council, the creation of the convention in 1950 in Brussels, and the inauguration of the Customs Museum in Bordeaux in 1984.

This sheet is preserved in a three-hole punched plastic sleeve, typical of CEF presentations, with a reference printed in the lower left (3178) and a mention of a limited edition of 33,800 copies. The presentation is neat, with a black frame around the sheet and information printed on the sleeve.

The visible side shows no major apparent defects: the colors remain vibrant, the paper appears flat, and the sleeve effectively protects the whole. The artist's signature is visible beneath the main illustration, confirming the graphic authenticity of the sheet. All inscriptions are printed clearly, with no signs of alteration or visible stains on the front.

The layout harmoniously combines artistic illustration, historical text, and philatelic elements (stamp, cancellation, face value). This type of sheet, also called a "first day cover" or "CEF commemorative," is prized for the richness of its details and the quality of its presentation.
