Description

This philatelic sheet issued by the CEF (Cercle des Émetteurs Français) pays tribute to Gaston Bachelard, a famous French philosopher and epistemologist. On the visible side, the sheet displays the name "GASTON BACHELARD" in capital letters at the top right, accompanied by a large color illustration depicting a stylized portrait of Bachelard in front of a bookshelf filled with books. The illustration combines drawing with subtle coloring, giving the whole a refined and academic appearance.

On the left side, the sheet features a franked postage stamp, showing Gaston Bachelard's face, associated with a circular commemorative postmark bearing the inscription "BAR SUR AUBE" and the date visible in the stamp (not precisely legible in the photo). Below, a dense biographical text, printed in black on a white background, recounts Bachelard's life and work, his major contributions to the philosophy of science and the scientific imagination.

The sheet's composition is elegant, with fine gilded margins and a balanced layout. The mention "Jacques Combet artiste peintre et auteur de la figure" (Jacques Combet painter and author of the figure) is also noted at the top right of the illustration, highlighting the artistic collaboration for this sheet. On the left edge, technical indications relating to the CEF edition appear, confirming the authenticity and philatelic nature of the object.

The sheet bears the individual number "1431" at the bottom left, attesting to a limited edition, typical information for CEF issues. The whole is presented on a neutral background, without a visible frame, with only the front side visible in the photo.

Used item, sold as is. The sheet appears clean, with no visible defects or apparent creases on the shown side. The colors are well preserved, the printing is clear. Only the front side is visible in the photo, with no information on the reverse or any potential unseen defects.
