Philatelic sheet CEF Jean Effel and La Poste illustrated stamp France
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This illustrated philatelic sheet, published by the CEF (Cercle des Émissions de France), pays tribute to the artist Jean Effel through a creation dedicated to the theme of the Post Office. On the main part, there is a humorous illustration signed by Jean Effel entitled "Le nouveau régime postal" (The New Postal System), characterized by his recognizable style and satirical touch. Two fish, a message in a bottle, and marine elements are depicted in a black graphic style on a white background, metaphorically evoking postal communication.
In the upper right corner, the sheet features an official French postage stamp, depicting a female figure with an envelope, created in the same graphic spirit as the central artwork. The stamp is canceled with an illustrated cachet bearing the inscription "HOMMAGE PHILATELIQUE À JEAN EFFEL" (PHILATELIC TRIBUTE TO JEAN EFFEL), dated October 19 in Paris. This presentation highlights the commemorative and artistic dimension of the issue.
The sheet is printed on smooth paper, with a black border framing the illustrated part. On the left edge, the CEF catalog mention, reference "N° 520," and the title "LE NOUVEAU REGIME POSTAL CEF FRANCE ET ETRANGER" (THE NEW POSTAL SYSTEM CEF FRANCE AND ABROAD) are visible. An individual number (8963) is visible at the bottom left, indicating the limited print run of the issue.
An explanatory text at the bottom of the sheet traces the biography of Jean Effel, pseudonym of François Lejeune, and highlights his career as a cartoonist, his commitment to major popular causes, and his contribution to satire and graphic humor. The clear typography and airy layout make the whole legible and neat.
This sheet is presented in a transparent plastic sleeve, ensuring good preservation and a clean presentation. No wear, tears, or major alterations are visible on the exposed face. The whole offers a clear and well-preserved visual appearance, ideal for appreciating the graphic and philatelic details.
