Description
This philatelic sheet, published by CEF, features the stag, an emblematic figure of French wildlife. The visible side presents a meticulous composition, blending explanatory text, artistic illustration, and two postmarked stamps. The sheet has a horizontal rectangular format, with perforations on the left edge allowing it to be inserted into a binder or specialized album.
On the right, a watercolor signed by artist Claude Haley depicts a majestic stag, standing in a snowy landscape, surrounded by fir trees under a pale blue sky. The imposing antlers and brown coat of the cervid are finely detailed, highlighting the quality of the illustration. The signature "C. Aalev" appears at the bottom right of the illustration.
The left part of the sheet includes a text describing the characteristics and symbolic importance of the stag in French history and culture. Also visible are two 3.00 franc stamps, each adorned with a stylized stag and bearing the mention "République Française". Both stamps show a "Premier jour" (First Day) postmark dated June 18, 1988, in Paris and Montbard, confirming their commemorative philatelic nature.
The sheet features a numbering at the bottom left ("2834") and the mention "N° 875 du catalogue CEF" at the top. The phrase "Histoire naturelle - Le cerf" (Natural History - The Stag) as well as the CEF logo are also visible, attesting to the official publication by this specialist in French philately.
The surface of the sheet has a satin finish, with no major apparent defects in the photo. The colors are crisp, and the printing of the text and illustrations remains precise and legible. No folds, stains, or tears are observable on the visible part.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. The sheet visible in the photo shows no major defects; the printing and perforations appear intact. The visible side is clean and well-preserved.
