Description

This old issue of the "Lisette" newspaper, dated Sunday, August 28, 1932, is an emblematic example of illustrated youth press from the early 20th century. The cover features a polychrome illustration signed "Léveque," depicting several characters in a kitchen, related to the story titled "Les Douze Ans de Bénédicte" mentioned at the bottom of the page (story to be read on pages 8 and 9, according to the inscription). The title "Lisette" appears in white handwritten lettering on a blue background, framed by stylized roses. In the upper left, the mention "16 pages" indicates the pagination of this fascicle.

The newspaper is issue number 35 of the second year (58th delivery). The original price is clearly indicated: 25 centimes. The mention "Journal des fillettes" (Girls' Newspaper) appears under the title, specifying the editorial target audience of the time. The general presentation reflects the graphic style of the 1930s, with colors slightly faded by time and yellowed paper typical of old publications.

The overall condition shows visible signs of wear on the cover: browned edges, blunt corners, small tears, and soiling, particularly on the right edge. Inscriptions and graphic elements remain legible despite their age. The paper has a uniform patina and natural oxidation marks for an example from this period.

The cover layout respects the tradition of illustrated youth newspapers of the interwar period, with a large central drawing, a title at the top, and a narrative hook at the bottom. The presence of period accessories and costumes in the depicted scene is noteworthy, typical elements of moral or educational stories in this type of publication.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Shows signs of wear from use: rubbed edges, small tears, soiling, and browning of the paper. Complete cover, illustration, and title legible.
