Description

This document is an original copy of the children's newspaper "Lisette", dated Sunday, March 3, 1935 (fifteenth year, No. 9, 712th issue). This periodical, entitled "Journal des fillettes" (Girls' Newspaper), was published weekly in Paris. The visible cover features a color illustration signed "Levesque" depicting a rural scene: a horse-drawn cart encountering two young girls in long dresses on a winding road. Rural decorative elements such as trees and a grass-lined path are also discernible.

The layout of the front page is typical of illustrated youth publications from the 1930s, with a blue insert for the title "Lisette" adorned with stylized floral motifs. The newspaper has 16 pages, as indicated on the cover. The printed price is 25 centimes, corresponding to the interwar period in France. At the bottom of the page, the title of the main story, "La Croix d'Or" (The Golden Cross), is highlighted, accompanied by the indication "See story (pages 8 and 9)".

Visible inscriptions specify the publication offices: "1, rue Gazan, Paris (XIVe)", and the mention of the editor-in-chief. The overall tone of the paper is patinated ivory, with natural discoloration due to the age of the document. The right margin shows significant wear with moisture stains and slight paper deformation, particularly visible on the outer edge and the lower right corner. The top of the cover also shows corner wear and slight soiling.

The period typography, colored inserts (blue, yellow), and illustration style confirm the authenticity of this youth periodical from the 1930s. No handwritten text or annotations are visible on the front. The binding appears to be stapled, but only the left edge is visible, with no details on the condition of the internal binding.

Condition

Used item sold as is. Visible signs of wear, moisture marks on the right edge, blunt corners, minor soiling, and age patina on the cover. The front remains legible, and the illustration is well preserved despite the natural discoloration of the paper.

Did you know? The "Lisette" newspaper, launched in 1921, marked several generations of French female readers with its illustrated stories and serial novels. It was one of the main youth periodicals of the interwar period, with a significant weekly circulation, contributing to the popularization of comics and children's literature in France.
