This lot consists of an old handwritten letter dated 1949, accompanied by its original stamped envelope, an illustrated religious card, and an altar photo-card. The photo shows the envelope addressed to "Madame Veuve Hte Blanc, 80 rue de Rome", with a pink postage stamp and postmarks dated 1949, issued by the N.-D. du Rosaire monastery in Berthériville (Vosges). The address and handwritten script testify to post-war correspondence, typical of the late 1940s.

The letter itself, partially visible, is written in dark blue ink on lined paper. The cursive writing is regular and easily legible. The first lines evoke personal memories and friendly exchanges, characteristic of private correspondence of the era. The letter is inserted into the open envelope, presented flat.

A religious card accompanies the set. It features a black and white illustration, like an engraving, depicting a religious scene under the Latin inscription "Regina Sacratissimi Rosarii, ora pro nobis". The ornate frame, with geometric and floral motifs, as well as the graphic style, are typical of French religious production from the mid-20th century.

Also visible, a monochrome photo-card shows the altar of a chapel. The printed caption at the bottom states: "L'Autel de la chapelle temporaire, chez les Moniales Dominicaines de Berthériville, Vosges" (The Altar of the temporary chapel, at the Dominican Nuns of Berthériville, Vosges). This card adds historical and local interest to the set, directly related to the monastery that sent the letter.

The set is presented on antique furniture, in a library setting, which highlights the heritage aspect and authenticity of these period documents. The papers show a slight patina and normal signs of use for documents from this period.

Condition

Period set, used and sold as is. The envelope, handwritten letter, and cards show traces of handling, light wear, small marks or yellowing of the paper, without visible major degradation.
