Description

Old handwritten letter dated from the 1950s, accompanied by its original envelope. The set includes a sheet of correspondence written in black ink, by hand, featuring dense and regular cursive handwriting, typical of the post-World War II era. The text, although partially legible in the photo, reveals polite formulas and personal expressions, characteristic of private correspondence of that period. The letter is signed at the bottom right, the handwritten signature being visible but difficult to decipher precisely in the image.

The envelope visible in the background bears the handwritten address "Madame Henri Blanc, 180 rue de Rome, France", and is stamped with a red stamp depicting a male portrait. The postmark is dated May 1950 (legible circular postmark), confirming the date of dispatch. The stamp and postmark are well preserved, typical of international mail from the early second half of the 20th century.

The black ink used on the letter shows a slight patina, with variations in density, indicating the age of the document. The paper displays a fine texture and visible creases, particularly where it was originally folded for insertion into the envelope. No particular illustrations or embellishments are visible on the exposed side, apart from the dense handwritten text covering almost the entire page.

Both pieces (letter and envelope) are photographed against a background of an old library, highlighting their authenticity and historical character. The set is particularly representative of private correspondence from 1950s France, both for its writing style and the presentation of the envelope with period postage.

The letter shows some signs of handling and slight wear and tear, consistent with a used postal document that has spanned decades. The handwritten text remains clearly legible despite some areas where the ink may have slightly faded. No specific patterns, illustrations, or decorations are present on the visible side of the letter.
