Description

Illustrated first-day cover (FDC), issued for Stamp Day 1966, as shown in the photo. The envelope features a black and red illustration of a man observing a stamp with a magnifying glass, along with the inscription "Journée du Timbre 1966" (Stamp Day 1966) and the number 538 printed on the left. The French Republic stamp is affixed to the upper right, accompanied by two round postmarks bearing the inscription "JOURNEE DU TIMBRE PARIS 19-3-66".

The graphic composition of the envelope is distinguished by a fine-line intaglio drawing, contrasted by the solid red of the stamp observed through the magnifying glass. The overall design is typical of French philatelic commemorative editions from the 1960s. The envelope is protected by a transparent plastic sleeve in the photo.

The "First Day" cancellation is clearly visible, confirming that this is a philatelic item intended to mark the stamp's issuance on Stamp Day in Paris. The overall condition visible shows a clean envelope, with no apparent defects on the visible front, and a handwritten "100F" label affixed to the bottom right.

The details of the stamp, illustration, and postmarks are very clear, making it a sought-after item for collectors of thematic philately or French postal history. The envelope has no handwritten inscriptions on the visible front, apart from the price label.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The envelope is protected by a plastic sleeve (visible in the photo). No tears or major stains visible on the front. Slight handling marks possible due to age.

Did you know? Stamp Day was established in France in 1937 to promote philately. Each year, a new commemorative stamp is issued, accompanied by special postmarks used only on the day of the event.
