First Day Cover philatelic postmark Saint-Brieuc Congress FDC
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
First Day Cover, also known as FDC, featuring a sepia photograph of a building with characteristic architecture, probably a cathedral or a historic edifice, with the handwritten note "Saint-Brieuc Cathédrale (1690?)". The central image is framed by a decorative gold fillet on a white background, giving the whole a neat appearance, typical of special philatelic editions.
The visible side displays two official round blue postmarks, one of which bears the inscription "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION 20 MAI 1972 222 – SAINT-BRIEUC NORD" (FIRST DAY OF ISSUE MAY 20, 1972 222 – SAINT-BRIEUC NORTH) as well as inscriptions related to the "CONGRÈS NATIONAL DE LA FÉDÉRATION DES SOCIÉTÉS PHILATÉLIQUES FRANÇAISES" (NATIONAL CONGRESS OF THE FEDERATION OF FRENCH PHILATELIC SOCIETIES). A "FIRST DAY COVER" marking also appears at the bottom right of the illustration, accompanied by a blue insert "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION" (FIRST DAY OF ISSUE).
The item is protected under a transparent plastic sleeve, with a handwritten "10F" label affixed to the lower right part. The surface of the sleeve shows some reflections and creases, but the overall condition of the visible cover remains clean, with no significant defects on the printed area or the postmarks.
The dominant colors are white, the blue of the postmarks, and the sepia of the photograph. No specific stamp is visible on this view, but the presence of the postmarks and official inscriptions confirms the philatelic and commemorative nature of this envelope.
This type of item is particularly sought after under the terms "First Day envelope," "FDC," "commemorative postmark," or "philatelic envelope," especially for themes related to postal history or national philatelic congresses.
Condition
Used item sold as is. The visible side is well-preserved, under plastic protection, with some handling marks on the sleeve but no apparent major alteration on the cover itself.
