Description

Illustrated First Day Cover dedicated to the inauguration of the viaduct connecting the Île d'Oléron to the mainland, dated 1966. The envelope features a colorful visual on the theme of the viaduct, with a stylized map of the Île d'Oléron, the route of the viaduct, a sailboat, as well as coats of arms and maritime motifs. The dominant colors are blue, red, yellow, and green, with a red border framing the illustration.

The postal stamp "CHÂTEAU D'OLÉRON / 21-6 1966 / PONT D'OLÉRON" is clearly visible, affixed twice on the right side of the envelope, attesting to its authenticity as a "First Day Cover" (FDC). The postage stamp depicts a male portrait on a blue background, typical of French issues from this period.

At the top right of the envelope, the inscriptions "PREMIER JOUR D'ÉMISSION / FIRST DAY COVER" are written in French and English, along with the "FIRST DAY COVER" logo at the bottom left. The main text at the top of the illustration reads: "INAUGURATION DU VIADUC RELIANT L'ÎLE D'OLÉRON AU CONTINENT" (INAUGURATION OF THE VIADUCT CONNECTING ÎLE D'OLÉRON TO THE MAINLAND).

The envelope is presented in a transparent protective plastic sleeve, which allows all visual details to be observed while keeping the item in good overall condition. The bottom right corner bears the handwritten inscription "10F" on a glued label.
