Description

This lot consists of two antique plates in the Vieux Moustier style, recognizable by their traditional polychrome decoration. Each plate features a central motif depicting a character in period attire, surrounded by stylized flowers and colorful foliage. The dominant hues are red, blue, yellow, green, and ochre, hand-applied in a naive style typical of productions inspired by Moustiers faience.

The rim of each plate is adorned with a broad floral decoration composed of bouquets and foliage, evenly distributed around the border. The central scenes vary slightly: one features a character dressed in red and yellow wearing a hat, the other a blue and red character, each set in a bucolic scene enhanced with stylized birds.

The plates are round, with a slightly wavy edge, and a reddish-brown line highlighting the perimeter. The surface has a slight sheen, typical of old glazed finishes. The overall impression evokes a rustic and decorative spirit, true to French faience traditions.

The plates are photographed from the front, clearly showing the design and color distribution, as well as the floral details of the rim. No markings or signatures are visible on the presented face.
